CACD HOSTING VIRTUAL EVENT IN SUPPORT OF UN PROCLAMATION

A Mississauga-based non-profit is hosting a Nov. 27 virtual recognition event in support of the UN General Assembly proclamation that 2015 to 2024 be the International Decade for People of African Descent. Citizens for the Advancement of Community Development (CACD), which is dedicated to transforming the lives of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of colour) youth, will host the Saturday event from 3 to 8:30 p.m. The theme of the event will be "People of African Descent: recognition, justice and development."
It will include a number of discussions and presentations on topics such as how racism, discrimination, prejudices and hate crime impact youth in school, race studies and racial healing and the impact of systemic racism and social injustices on people of African descent and what can be done about it.
There will also be entertainment from several artists and speeches from dignitar
