MOHAWK STICKS TO ONLINE LEARNING
Online learning will remain the norm at Mohawk College for the remainder of the winter semester.
In a Jan. 11 memorandum, Mohawk president and CEO Ron McKerlie noted the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 virus has created uncertainty for the college and its students and staff.
"As a result, we have decided to continue to deliver the Winter 2022 semester in the current format, as it was detailed in a message to the college community on Jan. 3," the memorandum states.
Only lab work, or required in-person learning, will be done at the Fennell, McMaster, Stoney Creek and airport campuses, affecting some 9,000 students. Everything else will be done online.
All in-person events, internal and external, are cancelled until the end of February.
The David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre remains closed, except for approved academic and college-related purposes, until further notice and varsity athletics training and competition has been suspended until at least Jan. 21.
