MEET CATHERINE FIFE, WATERLOO'S NDP CANDIDATE
A LOOK AT WHO'S RUNNING TO BE WATERLOO'S MPP
CANDIDATE NAME: Catherine Fife
RIDING: Waterloo
PARTY: New Democratic Party of Ontario
AGE: 53
OCCUPATION: NDP candidate (Waterloo MPP)
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Waterloo
PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: As a three term MPP, Catherine has represented Waterloo for nearly a decade, initially elected in a byelection in 2012, and reelected in 2014 and 2018. Catherine was also first elected in 2003 as a trustee for the Waterloo District
School Board and was subsequently re-elected in 2006 and 2010.
HOW WOULD YOU GRADE THE PROVINCE'S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND WHY?:
D. The Ford government failed to invest strategically in the health and well-being of Ontarians. In fact, the FAO data showed that funding slated to keep classrooms safe, testing accessible and provide paid sick days did not materialize. Ontario's long-term care system was not supported, leading to more than 4,000 senior deaths.
IF RE-ELECTED, I PLEDGE: to fight for affordable housing in Waterloo, continue to advocate for a strong public education system, and to reverse Ford's cuts to our health-care system. There are opportunities to address the climate crisis by incorporating strategic economic policies that would see Ontario move forward in a sustainable matter.
