CUL-DE-SAC APPROVED BY COUNCIL

Haldimand County Council has approved a plan to build nine residential lots at 444 Tamarac St. in Dunnville.

The awkwardly-shaped half-hectare parcel is leftover from CN Rail lands, and will allow for the construction of one single detached, and one semi-detached with two units at the curve on Tamarac Road and five townhouses as a cul-de-sac at Maple and Cayuga Street.

Some of the development's neighbours along Forest Street expressed some concern about privacy, which the builder plans to address with window glazing.

"Overall, sitting on our back deck of our retirement home, staring at a blank wall with a glazed window is pretty disappointing," Paul Green said to council.

The site will also contain a dry pond for stormwater management to avoid overwhelming the county's system during heavy rains or snowmelts.
