CHAMBER WELCOMES NEW ED

LAURIE WEIR ljweir@metroland.com

The Perth & District Chamber of Commerce welcomes Gail Logan to the role of executive director for the organization.

"Gail comes to us with a wealth of experience and a passion for supporting local businesses and communities," said chamber president Toby James.

Logan has spent many years working in various leadership positions within chambers of commerce and business development organizations.

She managed the Ottawa Board of Trade/chamber of Commerce, as well as the Kingston and Sault Ste. Marie chambers of commerce.

"Her expertise and commitment to the industry are truly unparalleled. Gail has a proven track record of successfully implementing programs and initiatives that drive economic growth and support local businesses," added James.

Logan's most recent position was more than two years spent as executive director for the Carleton Place & District Youth Centre. During her tenure, the youth centre successfully navigated the impacts of COVID-19, saw growth in the number of participants visiting the centre, obtained new grants and other funding that resulted in the installation of a new commercial kitchen and healthy surpluses for 2021 and 2022.

"I'm very excited to be back managing a chamber," Logan said. "I've missed the energy, enthusiasm, determination and drive of entrepreneurs. I am committed to working to help expand the local business community, through strong economic development, marketing and promotion and reducing the burden of red tape."

Logan told the Perth Courier that the

first order of business, aside from their annual general meeting on March 22, is gearing up for their biggest fundraiser of the year, the Festival of Maples on April 29.

"We're selling vendor booths every day," she said. "Last year, we had 160 vendors and 30,000 people attended."

Logan was also the executive director of Lanark County Big Brothers and Big Sisters in 2018.
