SHAMROCKS RAISE MORE THAN $2K FOR HEADWATERS ONCOLOGY
NOVICE HOCKEY TEAM SOLD PURPLE HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER HOODIES
The two dozen hockeyloving kids on the Erin Shamrocks did more than face off against their opponents on the ice recently.
They also stood up in the fight against cancer.
The Novice Black team, comprised of 14 players, the majority from Orangeville, raised $2,147.50 for the Headwaters hospital's on- cology unit. This was accomplished through the team's "Hockey Fights Cancer" initiative selling purple branded hoodies, which started in October. The effort continued into December through a team raffle,
with a portion of the pro- ceeds going to the fundrais- er.
The team's accomplishment went far beyond what they planned, shattering their initial $500 goal.
On March 11, the kids on the team presented their donation and met with Headwaters Foundation CEO KC Carruthers, who showed them around the oncology unit.
