There's no denying the Orangeville Food Bank functions as a vital service in our community. For many in and around Orangeville, it has touched their lives or the lives of their friends and family at some point or another.

Maybe, it is still a service they rely on today.

That's a major part of the reason behind a Little Moments Big Memories annual fundraiser for the organization.

"One of the reasons I feel so passionate about the Orangeville Food Bank is because it's all about neighbours helping neighbours," said Laura Goulding, owner of the Grand Valley-based business.

Little Moments Big Memories creates personalized keepsake books like memory books, baby books, and more. Following its launch last year, the business released a special garden journal for spring gardening. Right away, Goulding decided it would be sold as a fundraiser, with all proceeds of each sale going to the food bank. "I created this journal around the basis of helping families with their gardens while promoting food literacy among youth," Goulding explained. "It's truly a fun activity for the whole family and promotes you to learn about food in the way that we feed our bodies."

Every journal has space to map the garden and its plants, as well as space for notes when it comes to growing and harvesting the plant.

Goulding says when she started the business, it was always with the goal of finding ways to give back.

"The Orangeville Food Bank felt like a natural fit to honour in this fundraiser because of their commitment to food security in our very own community," said Goulding. "The food bank plays such an important role in our community and I feel so drawn to that organization."

During the first year of the fundraiser, in May 2021, Goulding raised $140 for the Orangeville Food Bank.

"I knew giving back was going to be one of our goals," Goulding said. "It's pretty special to me and I'm excited to be able to come back and do that this year."

The garden journals are available online and cost $5 each for a digital copy of the book that can be printed.

The Little Moments Big Memories garden journal fundraiser is running until May 31, and journals can be purchased online at www.littlemomentsbigmemories.ca. More information can also be found on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
