Preparing for liftoff, Museum of Dufferin staff are looking for your input as they launch into the future.

A public survey has been developed as the administration plans the museum's strategic plan.

"We're trying to turn a new course forward for the museum," said Cody Joudry, director of development and tourism at the County of Dufferin. "There's been a lot of changes in the last couple of years. There's been COVID and a lot of advocacy work around a host of issues. We're curious."

Whether you're a frequent museum visitor or you've never been, they value your perspective and experience to learn and better engage with the growing community. The survey will close on May 30.

"We want to make sure all of our content and programming is relevant and meeting the needs of the community," said Joudry.

The museum offers curatorial items like the world's largest Corn Flower glassware collection, information on the county's history from prohibition days and hosts events such as the upcoming multicultural event on June 11.

The strategic plan will act as a road map, guiding the museum for the next five years and beyond. By participating in this survey, you can be entered to win one of two $50 gift certificates to a business in Dufferin County of your choice.

"We're trying to develop a museum plan that makes sense and is embraced by the community," said Joudry. "We have a lot of visitors, but we're always looking for more. Part of our goal is to have more visitors and make everything at the museum relevant to residents and visitors."

One of the projects staff are conducting looks at their existing collection and exhibits in order to diversify them. They want programs to represent the community better and understand what people are looking for in a museum.
