Looking for ways to green your lifestyle? The 14th annual North Grenville Sustainability Fair & EV Show has you covered. The event, hosted by Sustainable North Grenville (SNG), is set for Sunday, April 16, at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. It runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the community rooms, arena and theatre.

Tom and Jeanne Graham, SNG members and volunteer co-ordinators of the fair, said the popular event continues to grow each year.

"The thing has grown, beyond what any of us have dreamed what it could be," noted Jeanne. "To have 1,000 people come through, it's pretty amazing"

This year's fair will feature 40 vendors, including seven in the Greening Your Home section, and 15 or more electric vehicles (EVS), some of which are available for test drives.

"We like to think it gives people ideas and inspiration for your

green lifestyle — an environmentally conscientious lifestyle," explained Tom.

He stated that you can learn things, through a variety of presentations, and also connect with

small businesses and community groups at the fair.

"Things like the Ferguson Forest Centre, Giving Garden, school boards, conservation authorities — those people are there offering

public and free information," Tom added.

Admission to the fair is also free, thanks to sponsorship by local businesses.

"There's a real emphasis on local that we strive for," he said. "Our food again this year is provided by Bruce Enloe, with his smoked brisket and vegetarian chili, so there's local food, local music, local vendors, local community groups — something for everyone"

Jeanne explained that SNG has three goals, all of which are incorporated into the fair.

"And those things are supporting the community, protecting the environment and strengthening the economy."

Tom added that SNG shines a light on environmental issues locally, such as the More Homes Built Faster Act passed in 2022.

"One of the presentations during the fair is about the impacts of Bill 23," he noted. "Those are the kinds of things our group is involved in."

Jeanne said the fair offers something for everyone.

"Between the vendors, the kids' area, local musicians, local food, the opportunity for the different presentations — it's definitely a family event."
