Josh Bennett is the Ontario Liberal party candidate in the riding of Leeds-grenville — Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.

JUST THE FACTS

NAME: Josh Bennett AGE: 46

PARTY: Ontario Liberal party

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: I was the federal Liberal candidate in 2019 and the Ontario Liberal campaign manager here in Leeds-grenville in 2018.

TOP THREE POLITICAL ISSUES:

1. Affordable housing — We are in a housing crisis, and we need more houses, but especially affordable houses.

2. Rural health care/

Long-term care — We need more investment in rural health care, mental health, and long-term care.

3. Rural broadband — It's time for Ontario to get internet into every home.

EDUCATION: BA and BPHE (Bachelor of Physical and health education) both from Queen's University and an MA from Royal Military College.

FAMILY: My mom lives with me, and I take care of her. My sister and her family are in Brockville, and my brother lives in South Korea.

I have five amazing nieces and nephews, all of whom live in Leeds-grenville.

HOME: South Augusta — my family has lived in South Augusta since the late 1700s. The property I own today, where I live, was originally purchased by my great-grandfather in 1912.

HOBBIES: Canoeing, kayaking, camping, running.

FAVOURITE BOOK: "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett (I LOVE good historic fiction!)

FAVOURITE MOVIE: "Casablanca" — a movie I can watch over and over again and enjoy it every time.
