FORMER REPORTER RETURNS TO POST

I'm back!

It's been five years — almost to the day — since I last worked as reporter for The Kemptville Advance.

And what a whirlwind it's been.

I spent a year getting better acquainted with a local not-for-profit and then two years working in radio, including some time spent behind the mic. I just finished up a contract doing communications and now here I am again, back home as I like to think of the newspaper.

The Kemptville Advance has long been a part of my story and I'm honoured to be doing what I love most — keeping the public informed. Community news is the backbone of any small town and no matter how big Kemptville gets, it'll always be home to me.

I've lived in this community for nearly 33 years and

now I'm raising my children here.

North Grenville is a wonderful place in so many different ways, but what really strikes me is how people come together to help their neighbours in need.

I've seen firsthand — more times than I dare to count — the tremendous power of community. Whether it's rallying around someone who's fallen on hard times or collecting furniture and clothes for a family that lost everything in a house fire, there's no shortage of humility and kindness in North Grenville.

When a crisis occurs, people don't hesitate — they just step forward to help. And those are my favourite stories to tell — the ones full of hope and generosity. They bring people together and create new connections that form the fabric of community.

I'm looking forward to once again bearing witness to what makes North Grenville such a great place to live and sharing that information with all of you.
