POLICE SAY ARREST CAME AS A RESULT OF THE RELEASE OF SEVERAL SUSPECT PHOTOS LAST MONTH

Another arrest has been made in connection to the kidnapping of Elnaz Hajtamiri, thanks to public super sleuths.

Investigators released photos of three suspects wanted in connection to the Jan. 2022 kidnapping of Hajtamiri from a Wasaga Beach residence. Tips from the public have subsequently led to an arrest. The OPP say 30-year-old Krystal Lawrence, from Brampton, was taken into custody on March 16, and charged with kidnapping. She will appear in Collingwood court on May 2.

Meanwhile, an arrest warrant remains active for Deshawn Davis, age 35, a Toronto man wanted in connection to the kidnapping investigation.

Jan. 12 marked the one year anniversary since the then-37-year-old Hajtamiri was abducted from the Wasaga Beach home of a family member, when three men posing as police forced their way into the Trailwood Place residence and dragged her out to a waiting Lexus RX350.

Her ex-boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo, is awaiting trial on charges of attempted murder and attempted kidnapping in connection to the assault and kidnapping in connection to the abduction.

Police are asking anyone with information on Davis' whereabouts to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or through the dedicated tip line at 1-833728-3415. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Police continue work on identifying the final suspect in the series of photos released to the public. Additionally, investigators hope to identify one, possibly two individuals of interest who rented vehicles in Dec. 2021. They are not considered suspects in the kidnapping, but police believe they may have information that could shed light on this case.

A $100,000 reward offered by the OPP and York Regional Police still stands for anyone who has information that could lead to Hajtamiri's whereabouts.
