JOY OF STRINGS

Scarborough Symphony Orchestra's upcoming show, The Joy of Strings, will be held Saturday, March 25, 3 to 5 p.m. at Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute, 5400 Lawrence Ave E, This performance features an entertaining and diverse collection of music for string orchestra and includes musicians from four Scarborough ensembles, including Scarborough Symphony Orchestra, Sistema Toronto String Ensemble, University of Toronto Scarborough Campus String Ensemble and Sir Oliver Mowat C.I. SEEDY SATURDAY

Seedy Saturday and Green Fair, returning to St. John Henry Newman Catholic High School Saturday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., features a heirloom seed exchange and much more. The annual fair at the school, at 100 Brimley Rd. S., features seed vendors and interactive displays from the Scarborough Food Security Initiative (SFSI) and other groups or companies involved in gardening or sustainable living. Admission is $2 per person or pay what you can (half the proceeds will go to SFSI), but children get in free. Donations of non-perishable food items are appreciated.

BAKE SALE

Bake Sale Fundraiser 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at Morningside Park and Thomson Memorial Park. Save-the-bread is a not-forprofit, community-driven social enterprise working on several goals that are all tied up into one foremost issue — food waste. Che Ree Kwon's paintings contain stories of traveling between memories and imagination. SOMETHING I KNOW: Kesang Nanglu and Atleigh Homma ascribe symbolic meaning to ordinary objects, creating scenes that speak to deeper narratives of cultural identity, mental well being and self care.

WOMEN IN STEM

Celebrate the achievements of Women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics with an exhibit from the Canadian Multicultural Innovator's Museum. Explore the inventions and innovations that women from diverse communities around the world have given to society.

WOMEN OF COURAGE

Women of Courage Exhibition at Scarborough Museum presented by Culturelink through to April 9. The Women of Courage Project celebrates, amplifies, and centres the under-represented

voices of racialized immigrant women, a population traditionally "left out" of the conversation between established museums and their visitors. This exhibition is the culmination of work by four cohorts of Culturelink's Women of Courage Project, responding to and documenting experiences of migration, settlement and adaptation to life in Canada. Engage with the multimedia exhibition either by contributing to the display or responding to the call-to-action confronting systemic racism.

• Toronto Botanical Garden's annual Horticultural Open House is back with seed and other garden-related vendors and exhibitors including local horticultural societies, garden clubs, and organizations, Saturday, March 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $2 suggested minimum donation or PWYC. This one-day garden extravaganza includes: free talks and demonstrations; free gardening advice clinic offered by the Toronto Master Gardeners; TBG Bloom Café and Coffee Bar for onsite noshing and refreshments. The Garden Shop will be brimming with essentials for gardeners of all ages. You'll find a thoughtful selection of seeds from West Coast Seeds (organic, non-gmo), Renee's Garden Seeds (nongmo), and Ontario's Wildflower Farm, live houseplants, sustainable products, Ontario honey, helpful gardening tools, nature-inspired home décor, and other necessities for stylish outdoor living. • Tafelmusik's Three's Company Sunday, March 26, 2 to 3:15 p.m. at Toronto Botanical Garden, 777 Lawrence Ave. E. A live string trio performance featuring one of Mozart's grandest chamber works. Tafelmusik at the Garden is a new concert series launched in 2023, created in partnership with Tafelmusik and the Toronto Botanical Garden. These Sunday afternoon concerts will take place indoors, in the Toronto Botanical Garden Floral Hall. Next one after this is April 30: It Takes Two.

• Celebrate the arrival of spring with Ziigwan (SEEGWON), a three-day (March 24-26) Indigenous Music and Arts Festival as some of the country's most prominent and emerging Indigenous artists take the stage for three straight days of free concerts. Throughout the festival, there will be vendors and learning stations set up in Yonge-dundas Square. Ziigwan is being presented by the Downtown BIA in partnership with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, ELMNT FM Radio, Red Music Rising, and Music Tourism.
