PAY PARKING KICKS IN FOR LAKE WILCOX

Free parking permits are now available online for Richmond Hill residents wishing to visit Lake Wilcox Park and Community Centre this summer.

Pay parking at the popular destination is in effect from Apr. 1 to Sept. 30 each year. As the largest kettle lake on the Oak Ridges moraine, visitors from across the GTA flock to its waterfront boardwalk, sunset views and family-friendly amenities.

In 2020, the municipality implemented pay parking to help ensure visitors from outside Richmond Hill contribute to park monitoring and maintenance.

Permits for Richmond Hill residents are available through the parking and bylaw portal. Click "Obtain a Parking Permit" and create an account or enter your existing logic information.

If a Richmond Hill household requires more than one free permit or previously registered vehicle plate and requires assistance, contact Parking at 905-771-8860 or email parking@richmondhill.ca.

A valid reason for requiring more than one permit is required (i.e., accessibility for Oak Ridges Community Centre users or if there are tenant/property owner arrangements at a particular address).

Parking for non-residents and those without permits cost $4 per hour at the Oak Ridges Community Centre, the skate park and the north gravel lots and $5 per hour at the main/splash pad lot.

Carpooling is strongly encouraged.

In addition, from Apr. 1 through Sept. 30, weekend parking on streets neighbouring Lake Wilcox Park is restricted to residents and their guests with a permit. Permit parking is in effect seven days a week on Bayview Park Lane, the west end of Dariole Drive and Sandbanks Drive.

Street parking permits were mailed to residents who live in the area in early 2020.
