BY THE NUMBERS: 2023 DRAFT BUDGET

A FORMAL PUBLIC MEETING TO ADOPT THE FINALIZED BUDGET WILL TAKE PLACE IN APRIL

Renfrew residents may need to pay $73 more this year in property taxes.

Renfrew council had its first look at the 2023 draft budget, which proposed a 6.45 per cent tax levy increase; taking economic growth into account, this means a less than four per cent impact on ratepayers.

The draft budget will go to the town's committees for review and revision before being brought back to council on March 28; a formal public meeting to adopt the finalized budget will take place in April.

Below are details from the 2023 draft budget. Please note these amounts have not been approved by council yet and are subject to change.

TOTAL BUDGET — $79.08 MILLION

2023 Levy — $10,197,351 (6.45 per cent increase from 2022)

2022 Economic Growth — 2.46 per cent Impact on Ratepayer — 3.99 per cent ($73 annual increase for average household assessment)

CAPITAL BUDGET — $49.5 MILLION

Facilities — $32.9 million Roads — $14.08 million Equipment — $749,000 Rolling Stock — $754,470 Studies and Other — $943,901

OPERATING BUDGET — $23.9 MILLION

Infrastructure and Public Works — $3,625,612

Planning and Development — $1,686,036 Fire and Emergency Services — $2,066,477
