For a limited time, the Renfrew Public Library is featuring an exhibit that highlights the impacts of the residential school system in Canada.

The exhibit, provided by the Legacy of Hope Foundation, is called “Where are the children? Healing the Impact of Residential Schools,” and features a brief history of the origins of residential schools in Canada (the Nicholas Flood Davin Report), along with calling for healing, reconciliation and systemic change.

It contains a slide show with pictures depicting the harsh realities that thousands of Indigenous children experienced. It will be at the library until the end of May.

The exhibit contains subject matter that may be disturbing to some visitors and to survivors of the residential school system. Help is available through the 24hour National Survivors Crisis Line at 1866-925-4419.
