COUNCIL 'COMMUNITY CHATS' PLANNED ACROSS SCUGOG IN OCTOBER

A series of community chats involving Scugog's acclaimed councillors and those still in need of votes will be held across the township in October.

Residents are encouraged to share their ideas with the next slate of councillors at Two Blokes Cider, 21300 Simcoe St., on Oct. 4, followed by another gathering Oct. 6 at Sunnybrae Golf Club, 1430 King St. Another meeting will be held at the Scugog Island Hall, 2710 Demara Rd., on Oct. 12; the Port Perry Scout Hall, 15585 Simcoe St., on Oct. 13; and Nestleton Community Hall, 3971 Hwy. 7A, on Oct. 18.

All of the meetings begin at 7 p.m.

With six of seven seats around the council table acclaimed, only voters in Scugog's Ward 5 will cast a

vote for their local councillor. Terry Coyne, Ivo Finotti and Imran (Louie) Mohammad are all vying for the seat. Scugog voters will also choose a regional chair and there are candidate races for most school board trustee positions.

Already acclaimed to the 2022 to 2026 term of Scugog council are: Wilma Wotten (mayor), Ian McDougall (regional councillor), David Le Roy (Ward 1), Janna Guido (Ward 2), Robert Rock (Ward 3) and Harold Wright (Ward 4).
