A GoFundMe has been launched to support a hydro worker injured on the job in Ajax.
On May 19, a worker was injured while trying to restore power after an outage in Ajax and taken to hospital for treatment for an "electrical injury."
"On the evening of May 19, Ryan Brown fell victim to a terrible electrical contact injury while restoring power that has left him hospitalized, fighting for his life," said a GoFundMe launched to support Brown and his family, including his girlfriend and five-month old daughter.
"Everyone who knows
Ryan knows he's the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back," continued the statement by organizers Jennifer Quinlan and Jordan Quade.
"He's a hard worker, whether it be picking up extra on-call shifts, helping others, his many projects around their home and being a loving and supportive new dad. The love he has for his family and his girls, Jordan and Riley, is huge beyond measure and he is an amazing lineman and damn proud of it."
The campaign will provide for the family's immediate financial needs as they support Brown through what is expected to be a long recovery. As of May 29, the campaign had raised more
than $80,000, past its original $60,000 goal.
"We want to be able to provide Jordan and Riley stability over the next many months with all the unknowns and Ryan's long journey of recovery ahead of him," the description continued.
A Ministry of Labour investigation into the incident is ongoing.
