Modern Golf was founded in 2011 with locations across Canada, from B. C. to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The dynamic golf retailer and experience centre is consistently ahead of the curve, providing golfers with state-of-the-art equipment backed by years of experience. Modern Golf Outlet and Indoor Golf Centre opened in the Durham Centre last March and has quickly become the go-to place for all things golf.

The Ajax location also offers an indoor golf experience where golfers can practice their swing to improve their game. “Our indoor TrackMan golf simulator uses state-of-the-art radar technology that gives you data on your golf shots, such as the distance, ball speed and more. TrackMan allows golfers to simulate playing on several well-known golf courses around the world, including many PGA Tour schedule courses. Players can challenge themselves by playing various courses, practice their skills or to try out a new club prior to purchase.”

Using TOUR level, state-of-the-art club fitting technology which is analyzed by master golf club fitters and golf club builders, Modern Golf is one of Canada’s largest fitting facilities with over 30,000 hittable head and shaft combinations. “Our expert fitters are trained to help our golfers find the perfect fit and club to help our clients play their best golf ever.” Modern Golf also offers golf lessons provided by expert instructors. Modern Golf is a store for golfers, staffed by several golf lovers. Ryan began playing golf at age 11 at a municipal course in Durham, studied Professional Golf Management at Durham College, and as a PGA of Canada member, he worked at various private clubs in the GTA, including a tenure as the Head Golf Professional at Carrying Place Golf & Country Club prior joining the team at Modern Golf.

“As a Durham resident for most of my life, I am very familiar with all of the golf courses in the area. We partner with several clubs in the GTA to co-host Trade-In Days where golfers can trade in their old clubs for Golf Shop Credit. It’s a way to recycle clubs from one golfer to another.” Modern Golf is proud to give back to the local community through involvement in local charity golf tournaments. “We also have partnered with the Golf Association of Ontario to promote a fantastic initiative called TryGolf which is an initiative to get more women into the game of golf.” Ryan has noticed a trend toward customers coming into the store who are trying golf for the first time. “This includes men, women and juniors,” he says. “I have found that golf is evolving and is becoming more accessible and more relaxed in terms of the dress code at many courses. What I love most about what I do at Modern Golf is helping people get started in the game that I love so much and that has given me so much.”
