GREAT GILMOUR STREET GARAGE SALE READY FOR A GRAND RETURN

THE CITY'S LARGEST COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE IS SLATED FOR MAY 28 AFTER BEING CANCELLED TWO YEARS IN A ROW DUE TO THE PANDEMIC

After a two-year absence due to the pandemic, thrifters can rejoice with the return of Peterborough's biggest yard sale slated for the last weekend of May.

According to Gilmour Street residents, the Great Gilmour Street Garage Sale is scheduled for May 28, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"It's a great community event," says Gilmour Street resident Greg Loucks.

Loucks says he'll have his rock and roll music playing first thing in the morning and adds the neighbourhood is excited to have thousands of happy-faced bargain

hunters back after COVID-19 forced the annual street-wide garage sale to cancel two years in a row.

"It brings out people I haven't seen in 20 years," he explains.

Started in 1990, the yard sale is also used by many non-for-profit organizations to raise money through sales.

Treasure seekers can expect vendors running along Gilmour Street between Park Street and Monaghan Road, with additional sellers west of Monaghan Road as well as on Homewood Avenue and Burrows Street.

This year's rain day is Sunday May, 29, 2022.
