RECRUITMENT FOR LIFEGUARDS IN THE WORKS IN PARRY SOUND
TAYLOR CLARK tclark@metroland.com
Near the beginning of each Parry Sound council meeting, members of council are invited to ask staff any questions they've been pondering.
Here are some of the questions answered during the Mar. 7 meeting.
Question: "Regarding the recruitment for the lifeguards for Waubuno Beach, can we get an update on that?" — Councillor Chris McDonald
Answer: "Things are progressing well. Resumés are coming in, not as fast and furious as we would like. We are interviewing. If anybody knows of anybody, this is my opportunity for a commercial right now. Please get your resumés in to be a lifeguard at Waubuno Beach this summer." — April McNamara, parks and recreation manager
Question: "Have you found that since the worst of COVID is behind us and maybe not everyone would agree with that statement ... Are you finding that there's a better resource pool out there now?" — Coun. Doug McCann
Answer: "The Lifesaving Society has been very active in hosting various courses for people to get certified to become lifeguards. Our hope is that everyone has taken advantage of these courses. As I mentioned previously, resumés
are coming in. We are interviewing. It is early in the season. The push is still on." — McNamara
