A café run by students is helping a local non-profit organization.

The Keystone Café, run by Grade 7 and 8 students at Keystone Montessori and Elementary School, provides coffee, hot chocolate and tea to the parents and teachers of the school, in exchange for donations that will go to The Lighthouse.

The café has raised more than $200 for The Lighthouse, a non-profit that provides housing and support services to the most vulnerable in Simcoe County.

"I am so proud of the students. They have taken initiative and created something special — plus, the best part is I get to enjoy a wonderful freshly brewed

cup of coffee every morning without having to leave the school," school owner Adam Hewitt said in a media release.

Students have found success beyond the donations, learning important life skills that include responsibility, organization, accountability, attention to detail and courtesy, the school said in a media

statement.

The school, which provides education programs for students aged four to 14, added in the statement that the café is "a testament to the power of education and the importance of giving back, and it is a shining example of what can be accomplished when people come together for a common cause."
