TOWN HOSTING COYOTE INFO SESSION

The Town of Oakville is hosting an online coyote information session on Wednesday, March 29.

Town staff say the session will provide residents with a better understanding of coyotes as well as tips on how to respond to coyote sightings, and how to coexist and reduce coyote conflicts.

Residents will also learn about hazing (aversion conditioning), how to discourage coyotes from entering their property, how to keep their pets safe and what resources are available to help them.

Those who attend the session will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

The online event runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will be attended by Town staff, a representative from the Oakville & Milton Humane Society and a representative from Coyote Watch Canada.

The session is particularly relevant now.

Town staff note the arrival of spring will bring coyote pupping season, which in turn will result in increased coyote sightings as coyotes search for den sites and later food to feed their pups.

Those who plan to attend are asked to preregister at https:// us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/ WN_oTPrmnGpQZGOhkg69rlOUg.

Once registration is complete residents will receive an email providing them with the link to join the meeting.

Residents who want to watch the meeting, but not

participate can watch it live at https://www.youtube.com/user/TownofOakvilleTV.

Those with questions are asked to submit them by March 29 at 4 p.m., ahead of the meeting by emailing enforcement@oakville.ca.
