It's all in a day's work for Cobourg Rev. Kevin Fast who hopes to pull his weight — and a whole lot more — as one of 82 acts vying to be the champion of Season 2 of the hit television show "Canada's Got Talent."

Fast — one of the strongest men in the world and holder of 33 official records for feats of strength in the Guinness World Records — said he was asked by the producers of "Canada's Got Talent" to appear on the show and he gratefully accepted.

"I'm not sure what I'm supposed to say, but they called me up and asked me if I would come out," said Fast, 59, in an interview with the Northumberland News.

Appearing on television is not a new phenomenon for Fast. His TV credits include "Live With Regis and Kelly," and "Ripley's Believe It or Not," to name a few. He views his appearance on "Canada's Got Talent" as another of many life adventures.

"I've done shows all over the world every year; I've done a lot of that stuff. I'm looking at it as a neat experience. It's always nice to meet some people, you meet a lot of decent people and just enjoy it as another adventure.

"It was an honour to be

asked," he added.

"Canada's Got Talent" is a show that brings together people with an array of talents, including, like Fast, those who possess one-of-akind abilities. Other than the fact he's participating in "Canada's Got Talent," Fast noted he's under direction

to be tight-lipped about any other details related to his appearance on the show.

Ironically, Fast said he never watched "Canada's Got Talent" in its first season.

Season 2 of "Canada's Got Talent" got underway

on Citytv on March 21 at 8 p.m. There is no word as of yet when Fast appears on the show, which reached 7.6 million Canadian viewers in its first season last year, according to showrunners.

Fast, who's served as the pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on William

Street in Cobourg for the past 30 years, said his "Canada's Got Talent" appearance notwithstanding, 2023 is shaping up to be a potentially busy year.

Fast is featured in the 2023 edition of Guinness World Records, appearing on page 4 of the popular book with three fire trucks from the Cobourg area from a past record feat.

Moreover, he's currently in the planning stages of attempting his 34th entry into the Guinness World Records for pulling a military tank.

Fast said logistical details are currently being worked out by the Oshawa Regiment Museum for pulling one of its tanks. He noted his record attempt for a tank pull is still tentative, but if it does happen, it will occur in late May.

"It's possibly happening in two months, we'll see," he said.
