OPP CONTINUING TO INVESTIGATE DEATH OF CHAD EVERETS

– With files from Torstar and Dominik Wisniewski

On May 14, it will be 11 years since Chad Everets of Port Hope was killed following a hit-and-run collision in the Port Dover area. He was 20.

Everets had made the trip to the area to attend the Friday the 13th motorcycle rally held the day before.

The OPP are still investigating, and have recently, once again, issued a plea for help, urging anyone with information to come forward.

On May 10, the Norfolk County OPP'S crime unit issued a release saying police are continuing to investigate the fail-to-remain, fatal collision that claimed Everets' life, and are again calling on the public for help.

The collision occurred on May 14, 2011, around 5 a.m. in the Cockshutt Road area (former Woodhouse Township) in Norfolk County. Police say Everets was struck by an unknown vehicle that never stopped and left the scene.

As previously reported by the OPP, after officers found Everets laying on the roadway, he was transported to hospital with what were described as major injuries, and he died a short time later.

The investigation is still ongoing, the OPP recently reminded the public.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at 1-888310-1122, or their nearest police authority. Anyone who may have seen Everets, or any suspect vehicle(s) during those early morning hours of May 14, 2011, or anyone with any potential information about the case, is urged to contact police.

Over the years, police and Everets' family have issued several pleas for help, with rewards issued and regular inquiries during subsequent editions of the giant motorcycle rally.

Everets left a mark on lot of people's hearts, was "irreplaceable," and was a great kid, who was at the wrong place, at the wrong time, said his family, when speaking with Northumberland News in recent years, while pleading for answers.

Police are reminding citizens that should they wish to remain anonymous, people can also share tips through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800222-8477 or visiting helpsolvecrime.com, where people may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
