HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: TAKE HOME SOME TAKEOUT
LAST YEAR'S HOME FOR DINNER CAMPAIGN RAISED $30,000
Get takeout for a good cause.
Habitat for Humanity's "Home for Dinner" campaign works with participating local restaurants, where if someone orders $25 or more for takeout, $5 is donated to Habitat's home-building projects.
This is the second year for the initiative, born out of the COVID-19 lockdowns which caused restaurants to close.
In a release, Habitat said it wanted to be a good neighbour and help restaurants.
"With support from the community and our generous sponsoring partners, local restaurants increase their revenue and Habitat Niagara receives funds to support our mission. It's a win-win," said Lorraine
Snihur, Chief Development Officer with Habitat Niagara.
Last year 15,425 takeout meals were purchased, which generated more than $385,000 in revenue for the restaurants and Habitat received $30,000 from its sponsoring partners.
The campaign runs from May 1 to May 31.
