The word metanoia means "change in one's way of life," or "a transformation."

So when St. Catharinesbased Suitcase in Point was looking for a title for its new show, the word fit perfectly.

"Metanoia: The Experience" will take visitors through St. Catharines' civic square downtown, starting at Wandering Spirits on James Street, going to the library, the old courthouse, and more, to enjoy a variety of audio, video and live performance installations.

"The concept is of profound change, radical transformations," said Deanna Jones, Suitcase in Point's artistic director. "(We) put a community call out to artists

... to respond to the idea of 'have you ever had a seachange moment in your life? Are there changes you'd like to see in your world, in your life?' Those kinds of things, and we got some incredible submissions."

Running from March 23 to March 25 at 8 p.m. each night, the entire show takes about 40 minutes.

Jones said the show being held downtown is especially fitting, as it is meant to inspire change.

"The civic centre of our city seems like a good place for the public, and for people, to imagine or contemplate change, whether that's personal or social or political," she said. "These spaces are for all of us in our hometown, and we hope that that reflects a little bit in these public spaces for this brief moment in time."

Aside from music, dance, and live performance, Jones said there will be interactive components.

"It's like seeing a live play, but not at the theatre," she said.

General admission tickets are $25 and are available at suitcaseinpoint.com.
