ST. CATHARINES WOMAN WINS $1M
RETAIL WORKER PLANS TO USE WINNINGS TO SAVE AND TRAVEL
A St. Catharines woman had to pinch herself to make sure she was actually awake when she discovered the size of the lotto prize she just won.
A longtime lottery player, Lynn Daniel, 42, is now $1 million richer after becoming one of the top prize winners from the Instant Ultimate draw held on Dec. 31.
Daniel had recently won $100 on another ticket and used the winnings to purchase the winning ticket.
"When I checked my ticket on the OLG App, my eyes went wide, and I thought I was dreaming," she told officials while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings. "I had to take a second look."
Daniels said it was an "incredible feeling" when she discovered she had won so much.
"I felt my heart rate rise, and then almost felt like I was in a trance," she said. "I never thought a win like this would happen. It's shocking."
Daniel, who works in retail, said she knows exactly what she is planning to do with her new-found fortune — save and travel.
"My dream has always been to explore Australia
and I'll have fun planning my trip!"
The winning ticket was
purchased at the 7-Eleven at 104 Lake St. in St. Catharines.
