MEET KITCHENER-CONESTOGA NDP CANDIDATE, KAREN MEISSNER

NAME: Karen Meissner

RIDING: Kitchener-Conestoga

PARTY: Ontario NDP

AGE: 41 years old

RESIDENCE: Elmira

OCCUPATION: Student, former small business owner, school board trustee

PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: "I am currently a school board trustee with the Waterloo Region District School Board. On the board, I have held leadership roles on committees and mentored student trustees. I'm running for MPP because our community deserves a government that works for them and will make sure we rebound strong from this pandemic."

HOW WOULD YOU GRADE THE PROVINCE'S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND WHY? (LETTER GRADE + RESPONSE):

"D. In the early stages of the pandemic there were many unknowns, but as waves three through six continued to disrupt the lives of all Ontarians, the Ford government failed to help. Ford chose to keep small businesses closed, while letting big box stores stay open and make record profits. He dragged his feet in providing sick days and forced people to scramble to find vaccine appointments.

“Ontarians didn't get the real leadership they needed."

IF ELECTED, I PLEDGE TO: "Stay connected with the community in KitchenerConestoga and bring the voices of families here to Queen's Park.

“Our community deserves a government that works for them; one that will invest in the things that matter, like schools and hospitals.

“I will work hard every day to make life better for everyone in our community."
