MISSISSAUGA FARES BADLY IN ANNUAL WORST ROADS LIST

GRAEME FRISQUE gfrisque@metroland.com

The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) has released its annual Worst Roads in Ontario List and Mississauga did not fare well.

While only one road in Mississauga — Hurontario Street — made the top 10 worst Ontario roads list, clinching the last spot, Canada's seventh-largest city dominated the top three positions on a regional basis.

Across Peel, Halton, Durham and Regions, Hurontario Street topped the list, followed by Winston Churchill Boulevard and The Collegeway. Bloor Street East in Oshawa ranked fourth, with Major Mackenzie Drive West in Vaughan rounding out the top five for those four regions.

Hurontario Street is currently experiencing delays due to the construction of the Hazel Mccallion LRT line.

The worst road in Ontario for 2023 for a second year in a row, according to CAA, is Barton Street East in Hamilton. Toronto saw four roads cracking the top 10 in 2023.

The top 10 worst roads across the province for 2023 include:

1. Barton Street East, Hamilton

2. Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto

3. County Road 49, Prince Edward

4. Carling Avenue, Ottawa

5. Finch Avenue West, Toronto

6. Laclie Street, Orillia

7. Steeles Avenue East, Toronto

8. Aberdeen Avenue, Hamilton

9. Lake Shore Boulevard East, Toronto

10. Hurontario Street, Mississauga
