2022 Annual Civic Awards hosted by the Mississauga Real Estate Board

The Mississauga Real Estate Board is proud to host the 2022 Annual Civic Awards Reception.

Please join us in the Great Hall of the Mississauga Civic Centre on June 9, 2022, from 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM for this unique annual celebratory event honouring individuals that have contributed to the welfare and betterment of the citizens of Mississauga.

The Mississauga Real Estate Board is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2022 Gordon S. Shipp Memorial Award for Citizen of the Year is Maureen Ellis. Ms. Ellis has dedicated her time, guidance, and insight in many civic and volunteer capacities and initiatives in Mississauga for over 50 years. Maureen has played an integral role in the founding of the Peel Children’s Aid Foundation and helped raise more than $2.6M for

Trillium Hospital with the publication of a commemorative fundraising photo book in honour of Hazel Mccallion’s 100th birthday. Maureen is as much a staple in the Mississauga community as her former employer, Hazel Mccallion. The Mississauga Real Estate Board is honoured to have her as this year’s recipient of the Gordon S. Shipp Memorial Award for Citizen of the Year.

This year’s recipient of the 2022 Ronald E. Sanderson Community Service Award is Mr. Michael Gray, of Royal LEPage Real Estate Services Ltd, for his significant volunteer commitment to Mississauga. Michael has devoted over a decade to multiple charitable causes including acting on the Board of Directors for the popular Southside Shuffle event. Michael also started a scholarship program at the Cawthra Park Secondary

School as week as regularly donating to a local women’s shelter. The Mississauga Real Estate Board is honoured to have Michael Gray as this year’s recipient of the Ronald E. Sanderson Community Service Award.

The 2022 Firefighter of the Year Award recipients are the S120 C Platoon Crew: Captain John Ganly, Acting Captain Matthew Curry, and Firefighter Wally Field. Their bravery, commitment, and selflessness in a dangerous house fire saved two lives on March 23, 2021. Their collective acts of selflessness and bravery in the commission of their duty is why we consider our Firefighters community heroes. The Mississauga Real Estate Board has the great honour of presenting the Firefighter of the Year Award to the S120 C Platoon Crew.

The 2022 Police Merit Award this year goes to Constable Darren Glaab and Constable David Petrucci for their professionalism, fearlessness, and adaptiveness in a life-threatening situation on October 31, 2021. Constables Glaab and Petrucci were the first responders to a serious car accident where the driver was trapped, and the vehicle was on fire. Constables Glaab and Petrucci exhibited acts of bravery in the performance of their duty and saved the life of the driver from this near fatal collision.

Members of the public and friends and family of this year’s award recipients are invited attend the Civic Reception and enjoy light refreshments and a musical interlude as we commemorate this year’s award recipients. To attend the reception guests are encouraged to RSVP by emailing events@mreb.ca.
