Over 95 per cent of long-term care staff and volunteers in Peel have been fully vaccinated, according to data released by the province.

The data, released Nov. 12, covers 28 long-term care facilities across Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga and shows 95.6 per cent of care home staff and volunteers have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19, as of Oct. 31.

Several Peel LTCS reported that 100 per cent of staff had second doses, including Cawthra Gardens in Mississauga and Burton Manor in Brampton.

Malton Village Long-term Care Centre, which is operated by Peel Region, had the lowest reported percentage of staff and volunteers fully vaccinated at 82 per cent, according the provincial data.

The data comes ahead of a deadline for LTC staff to get vaccinated, or, the Ontario government has said, they will be refused entry to work.

The province had set Monday, Nov. 15 as the deadline for LTC staff in Ontario to

show proof of full vaccination or a valid health exemption.

According to a spokesperson from the office of Long-term Care Minister Rod Phillips, care home staff and volunteers will now be required to have a single COVID-19 vaccination dose by Nov. 15, and two by Dec. 13.

In September, the Ministry of LongTerm Care data showed that around 91 per cent of Peel care home staff and volunteers have been vaccinated.
