CELEBRATE AT YOUR MIDLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY

June offers lots of cause for celebration and the Midland Public Library (MPL) is joining in with great programs.

We're excited to partner with six Simcoe County libraries to provide our first Drag Queen Storytime. It will take place June 4 at 10:30 a.m. Families can register by emailing fshergold@midlandlibrary.com.

For teens and adults, we'll be hosting a fun Virtual Drag Queen Trivia on June 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be hosted by E'Claire Devereaux and Carmen Del Rae, who will be performing and acting as MCs. To register for online trivia, email jpaquette@midlandlibrary.com.

You can also make free Pride buttons in our MakerPlace all month, or pick up a Teen Take and Make kit, offered in partnership with Fierté Simcoe Pride.

June is Indigenous History

Month. Join our First Chapter book club, focused on Indigenous authors and topics, by emailing fshergold@midlandlibrary.com and stay in touch to find out more about upcoming visits by Indigenous authors.

Join Indigenous cultural trainer Kelly Brownbill online on the mornings of June 9 and 16 to learn more about what you need to know about the history, culture and current issues facing Indigenous Peoples. This is a program from Tourism Simcoe County and the Culture Alliance in the Heart of Georgian Bay.

On June 24 at 1 p.m., Bernita Wabie, Algonquin cultural teacher, will present at the library on the seven grandfather teachings, the medicine wheel and our unique connection to Mother Earth, recognizing Indigenous People's resilience and strength, as well as the immeasurable impact they make in our society. Families can also join MPL at the waterfront on June 4 for our first-ever Explorer's Quest. Hunt for clues along Midland's Rotary Trail in support of MPL. Collect all the clues for your chance to win one of our exciting experience prize packages.
