MANUFACTURER RECEIVES $1.5M FROM PROVINCE TO CREATE JOBS

ONTARIO'S REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SUPPORTS LOCAL MANUFACTURERS INVESTING TO IMPROVE COMPETITIVENESS

Novo Plastics Inc., a manufacturer of engineered plastic products located in Markham, received provincial funding of $1,500,000 and create 30 new jobs.

Baljit Sierra, president and CEO of Novo Plastics Inc. said the funding "provides Novo with additional opportunities to improve our manufacturing capabilities in order to compete globally." The company was the winner of Markham Board of Trade Innovation Award in 2019.

"Novo Plastics Inc.'s investment will grow local manufacturing and create good-paying jobs for workers and families in York Region." added member of provincial parliament Billy Pang who made the announcement in January.

The project was funded through the Regional Development Program's Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness Stream (AMIC). The province has provided more than $70 million in support to 67 companies through the Regional Development Program, leveraging close to $800 million in investments and helping to create more than 1,400 jobs in Ontario.

The province

recently

launched the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness stream of the Regional Development Program. It will support Ontario advanced manufacturers to invest in the equipment, advanced technologies and skilled workforce needed to improve competitiveness and growth, and to create, retain and bring jobs back to every region of the province.
