Schomberg Main Street is turning into a sidewalk market on three upcoming Saturdays in the summer.

Sidewalkable Saturdays are scheduled for June 11, July 9 and Aug. 13. One was held on May 14.

The event sees Main Street businesses taking their stores to the sidewalk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Businesses offer a range of deals including farmhouse decor and handmade art.

Shoppers can check out other attractions such as live entertainment, balloon twisting, sidewalk food specials, workshops and sidewalk sales.

"Sidewalkable Saturdays will have a positive impact on Main Street businesses as they continue to adapt to COVID-19," Mayor Steve Pellegrini said. "Bringing the community together to enjoy an engaging event with irresistible sales would be a great boost for the businesses down Schomberg's Main Street."

Restaurants and coffee shops on Main Street will also be offering sidewalk specials.

A frog-calling workshop was held at the May 14 event, which was hosted by the Dufferin Marsh Committee's founding member Mary Asselstine. The educational workshop included a venture through the marsh while participants learned about frog and toad-calling techniques.
