UP TO $4,000 IN FUNDING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS

Landowners and community groups can once again tap into funding to reduce the costs of environmental projects.

Applications are now open for this year's water fund that could see projects receive support funds of up to $4,000.

The water fund supports local projects that positively impact the environment, such as shoreline improvements, tree planting, and gardening projects, as well as septic upgrades and well decommissions.

"At Kawartha Conservation, we understand that every dollar counts, and that's why we want to help you reduce your project costs without sacrificing quality," stated Kawartha Conservation's landowner and community support officer Danielle Marcoux-hunter.

"Our team is dedicated to providing valuable advice and suggestions to ensure your application is successful, and we're here to support you every step of the way."

Those interested in applying must review the applicant's guide and schedule a consultation with Kawartha Conservation staff before submitting an application. All applications must include cost estimates, required permits, and photographs of the site to be considered for funding. The deadline to apply is April 30. Since 2008, the water fund has awarded more than $530,000 to landowner and community projects in the Kawartha Conservation watershed, including a community park project with the Lakeview Estates Cottage Association in 2022.

"Our community park project was successfully completed, something we couldn't have done this past year without the financial support of the water fund program and the helpful guidance of Kawartha Conservation staff," noted Lakeview Estates Cottage Association member Jim Daly.

"The multiple site visits, guidance by Danielle, and timely reimbursement of funds made for a stress-free experience."

To learn more about the program, review eligibility guidelines, and apply, visit Kawartha Conservation's landowner grants or community grants page or contact Marcoux-hunter at 705-328-2271 ext. 242.
