After four years of being kept at the station, the Lindsay & District Model Railroaders are all aboard, once again.

The 46th annual model railway exhibit returns to the Victoria Park Armoury on April 1 and 2, featuring a wide range of exhibits, displays and vendors.

Group president Eric Potter is thoroughly looking forward to the return of the event. "We were impacted severely like many by the COVID-19 lock downs and restrictions and were prevented from doing our what was annual show in 20020, 2021 and 2022. The last show was April 2019 so it will be four full years without this event," said Potter. "As we really relied on this show to raise revenue to survive, this was a major financial blow to us. But survive we did and now we are back."

While the pandemic was financially a negative for the group, it was somewhat of a positive for its members.

"So many people found themselves spending more time at home and it created somewhat of a resurgence; they were able to spend more time being creative," said Potter who joined the group in 1986, but has had a passion for model trains since childhood.

"A lot of people think it's just a bunch of guys getting together to play with toy trains, but it's so much more than that. There's a big construction and engineering component. There's also a focus on architecture and design ... Some layouts are incredibly detailed and complex."

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is just $7 for adults, $2 for those aged six to 12 and free to those under six. For more information email allaboard@ldmr.org or visit ldmr.org.
