MAYORAL CANDIDATE FAYE MCGEE ANSWERS OUR QUESTIONS

WORK-FROM-HOME AND BIG CITY AFFORDABILITY IS PUSHING MORE PEOPLE TO CONSIDER RURAL LIVING. WHAT IS NEEDED IN KAWARTHA LAKES TO ACCOMMODATE THIS?

We need development in regard to people moving to the rural area, but each development needs to be monitored closely and ensure every phase is following all policies and regulations. We also need to make sure we are working diligently with people to help the process move along quickly and efficiently.

RISING COSTS (INFLATION/PANDEMIC FALLOUT) BROUGHT NEW PRESSURES TO MUNICIPALITIES, BUT ALSO TO TAXPAYERS. HOW DO YOU SEE THAT AFFECTING MUNICIPAL TAX LEVIES IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS?

I believe one big job council will have facing them is to review each department and themselves to make sure we are operating efficiently so tax dollars are not being wasted. Our taxes have been going up and services going down and that needs to be addressed at all levels.

ARE THERE ANY CONSIDERABLE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE COUNCIL TACKLE IN THE COMING TERM?

Roads is certainly one of the big issues but also recruitment of doctors, affordable housing.

WHAT OTHER ISSUE OR ISSUES FACING KAWARTHA LAKES DO YOU WANT TO ADDRESS AS MAYOR?

I want to send a message that I believe the best resource we have in our municipality is the TAXPAYER so each one of them know their communities needs so I am prepared to work hard and LISTEN to taxpayers.
