CANDIDATE PROFILE: LAURIE SCOTT, CONSERVATIVE PARTY

NAME: Laurie Scot, Conservative Party

AGE: 60

PARTY: Ontario PCS Incumbent MPP

PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE:

Laurie was born and raised in Kinmount and was inspired to enter public service by her late father, Bill Scott, who served as MP for 28 years. For more than 15 years, Laurie has been a strong advocate for issues facing rural Ontario.

HOW WOULD YOU GRADE THE PROVINCE'S COVID-19 RESPONSE?

Grade: A "After years of inaction by the previous Liberal government, the Ontario PCS have made record investments in hospital capacity, long-term care beds, and the health care workforce.

Ontario's Plan to Stay Open includes concrete measures to build Ontario's health care workforce, shore up domestic production of critical supplies, like personal protective equipment and vaccines, and invest in hospitals, long-term care homes and home care."

IF RE-ELECTED, I WILL...

"Our PC Party will deliver on our plan to build new homes, roads, and highways. We will give you a break and put more money in your pocket, while creating new and better jobs. We will continue to work towards Ontario's economic recovery by adding to the tens of thousands of new jobs that were created under our government.

Under the previous Liberal government, the province's health care system was chronically underfunded and understaffed. I will continue to be a strong advocate for local health care, and the PCS will continue to invest and deliver on our plan to stay open - including by saying yes to investing more than $40 billion over the next 10 years in hospital and health care infrastructure supporting more than 50 major hospital projects that would add 3,000 new beds over 10 years."
