'DUMPSITE GALLERY' SENDING MESSAGE TO LITTERBUGS

RUBY TRUAX

A tongue-in-cheek art exhibit alongside a snowmobile trail near Huntsville has captured the attention of off-roaders passing by.

The site, dubbed 'The Dumpsite Gallery', is a collection of trash illegally dumped on this private property, spray-painted gold, and arranged into an exhibit called 'All That Glitters...'. A sign credits the work to Vincent Van Garbage, Leonardo Debris and Pablo Pickupyertrash.

The person behind this project is local artist and activist Starr, who owns land alongside the trail. She's seen trash dumped in this area year after year. In the past, Starr has cleaned it up, only to find the area strewn with garbage again shortly after.

Posted signs haven't deterred the culprits, so this year Starr decided to send a message with humour.

While she hopes passersby will enjoy The Dumpsite Gallery, it's not intended to be a permanent fixture along this otherwise scenic snowmobile trail. Starr would be more than happy if someone were willing to haul it all away.

Anyone?
