DRIVER ALLEGEDLY FLEES RIDE
A 20-year-old from Mississauga is facing numerous charges after allegedly fleeing from a RIDE program stop.
On March 13 at 12:35 a.m., the Haldimand County detachment of the OPP conducted a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on Argyle Street North in Caledonia.
"A driver of a motor vehicle fled from the area at a high rate of speed after being stopped," Const. Ed Sanchuk wrote in a news release.
"The driver then fled on foot from the vehicle and was taken into police custody without incident."
The driver has been charged with: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, driving while under suspension, being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero, driving at an unlawful hour as a class G1 licence holder, driving while unaccompanied by qualified driver as a class G1 licence holder and having a front seat passenger as a class G1 licence holder.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice located in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
