Anthony Lombardi is inviting the public to contribute non-perishable items or money to the Hamilton Back Clinic's annual Easter Basket Food Drive in support of Glanbrook Food Bank.

"A donation of as little as $10 will give 10 families a supply of pasta sauce," he said. "Your support and promotion of this drive will help our community."

With contributions, including from his own pocket, Lombardi aims to fill 50 baskets between now and to April 3.

"What inspires us is that we know we can do a lot of good when we team up with good people around us," he said. "We take pride in doing this because we do not have the luxury of being a billiondollar corporation."

Other local sponsors include the Binbrook Tim Hortons, owned by Kara Kennish, and Makeup Worx and Bare Wax Bar.

Glanbrook Food Bankvolunteer co-ordinator Vivian Kinnear continues to be grateful, particularly with the increased costs of staples.

"The same items last year cost about $122," she said. The same items and amount this year cost $187.

Kinnear said that visits to the food bank have also risen in the last year.

"We're a bit unique being in the middle of an affluent neighbourhood," she said. "People, particularly our senior population, are hesitant to access our services, but we encourage them to come in."

Kinnear wanted to encourage summertime donations as well, and even not-so-common items are also appreciated, and she thanked Lombardi for his continued efforts.

"We are fortunate to have businesses and people who care," she said.
