The Binbrook Women's Institute recently took some time to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II with an afternoon tea.

"Members wore hats and shared their memories of Royal events and visits," Lois Whitwell, who looks after public relations and advocacy for the group, wrote in an email. "Guest David Randle shared his memory of the coronation and a led a quiz about the Queen's reign."

The event took place in Binbrook Memorial Hall.

Whitwell noted that the group continues to be actively involved in the community, saying that recently they had "responded to a

family whose house burned with financial help."

Looking ahead, the Binbrook Women's Institute has started planning and organizing for its roast beef dinner fundraiser, which takes place annually at the Binbrook Fair on the Friday and Saturday. This

year, the fair will be Sept. 16 to 18.

"This year we are pairing with the Order of the Easter Star Chapter 117," Whitwell said.
