FORD'S MANDATE
Much is made of the fact that Premier Doug Ford managed to secure only 40.8 per cent of the popular vote in the provincial election and that, consequently, 60 per cent didn't vote for him.
But no one seems to mention the fact that Justin Trudeau won his 2019 minority government with a paltry 32.6 per cent of the popular vote, netting him 160 seats.
In fact, the Conservatives captured 33.74 per cent of the popular vote but managed only 119 seats. No one mentions that 68 per cent of Canadians didn't vote for Trudeau.
Point is, it doesn't matter. That is the nature of our first-past-the-post democracy. As much as we may not like the outcome, we need to live with the results.
