THANKS TO ALL OUR HILLSVIEW VOLUNTEERS

THEIR TIRELESS EFFORTS HELP KEEP THE CENTRE RUNNING, WRITES JULIE CONROY

JULIE CONROY Column Julie Conroy is the public relations director for Hillsview Active Living Centre — Acton, She can be reached at hillsviewacton@gmail.com.

April 24 to 30 marked National Volunteer Week, and on April 29, the staff with Volunteer Halton held a special appreciation event to acknowledge the volunteers at Hillsview Active Living Centre — Acton.

It was mentioned that without the many hours volunteers put in, it wouldn't be possible to offer all the programs at Hillsview.

Eileen Sowter received the Cheers to Volunteers Award, and David Mclean received the Halton Volunteer Impact Award. Each received a beautiful blown glass ornament.

Mayor Rick Bonnette, Regional Councillor Clarke Sommerville and Hillsview staff were also in attendance.

It was mentioned that volunteering during the past two years has been very difficult. The Friday lunches have resumed. The sign-up sheet is available at reception.

The men will be happy to hear that the monthly men's breakfasts will resume on Tuesday, May 31. On the menu will be sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast. After breakfast, there will be a discussion on future outings. Tickets are available at reception.

The spring bazaar was a great success and we thank everyone who donated, worked or attended. Hopefully in the fall we will be able to have our usual Christmas bazaar with a sit-down tea.

For more information, call the centre at 519-853-5951.
