NIAGARA LEADERSHIP SUMMIT FOR WOMEN RETURNS APRIL 1

1-DAY EVENT WILL BE HELD AT BROCK UNIVERSITY

Spring is often seen as a time for renewal, so it's only fitting this year's Niagara Leadership Summit for Women returns for its ninth annual event in April with the theme of "Renew, Recharge and Recreate the Idea of Leadership."

Put on by YWCA Niagara and organized by a committee of community volunteers, the summit had moved to an online format during the pandemic. However, this year organizers are looking forward to bringing everyone together to connect in person once again after years of lockdowns and forced separation. "I am very excited that the Niagara Leadership Summit for Women is once again being held in person, at Brock University," said Ingrid Makus, lead support of Women in Leadership at Brock University. "It offers a space to renew our commitment to gender equity, recharge from the challenges posed by the pandemic and recreate our connections to community."

Set to take place April 1, the one-day summit will return to Brock University and tickets to attend are still available.

The summit is an inclusive environment that aims to encourage and celebrate women and gender-diverse leaders in the community, opening the conversation around women's issues in Niagara.

"The summit is an important part of our strategic plan as a feminist organization," said Elisabeth Zimmermann, executive director of YWCA Niagara Region. "It gathers women with diverse backgrounds to share their story and highlight an intersectional approach to leadership in Niagara."

The keynote speaker this year will be Julie Christiansen from Leverage U.

The day will also include lunch, yoga in the morning, as well as women in leadership in the community delivering workshops and presentations.

Tickets are $30 per person and available online at NiagaraLSW.ca.
