MAKE A SENIOR'S DAY WITH SOMETHING FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

LIBRARY COLLECTING CARDS TO BE DISTRIBUTED AT GILMORE LODGE, KATHLEEN JEWELL WRITES

Help spread some love this Valentine's Day!

From now until Feb. 13, the Fort Erie Public Library will be collecting valentines for seniors. Patrons are encouraged to make homemade cards with messages and any cards collected will be delivered to residents at Gilmore Lodge long-termcare home for Valentine's Day. Let your local seniors know that you're thinking of them this holiday!

If this sounds like it would be of interest to you, the library has programs for patrons of all ages to contribute.

For kids, a valentine's for seniors craft program will be held Monday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge branch. Kids ages seven and up will have the opportunity to get creative and make their own cards. If younger children want to join, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is required for this program.

A drop-in card-making station will also be available at the Centennial branch during operating hours in the children's department from Feb. 1 to 13. Crafting supplies will be available for patrons to make their own cards. Any completed cards can be dropped off in the mailbox or given to staff at the front desk. Patrons of all ages are encouraged to participate.

For adults eager to join, card-making classes are an ideal opportunity to take part. Marianne from the Card Chalet offers tutorials on how to make beautiful scrapbook-style cards that are perfect for gifting to others. The final classes before the delivery date will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Registration is required for this program.

If you are unable to attend any of the programs above but are still interested in taking part, we encourage patrons to bring cards from home and drop them off at any of our branch locations. If you have any questions about the card initiative, or any of the programs mentioned above, give us a call at 905871-2546 for more details.
