RESIDENTS SEEKING ANSWERS ON POINT ABINO ROAD PAVING

SAY THEY WANT A PERMANENT FIX

Residents along Point Abino Road in Ridgeway say they're fed up with the condition of the roadway, and are looking to the town for answers and a fix.

Dutch Van Bolderen lives along Point Abino Road South, which was paved with asphalt just days before a massive winter storm on Dec. 23 that left residents without power and dealing with large amounts of cleanup.

"They put the new asphalt down, but the other half is gone, so really it didn't do anything," said Van Bolderen. "Some of it stayed in parts, but half of it is just gone."

Van Bolderen says he's confused as to why the town decided to pave the road with asphalt in December, rather than continuing to patch it as they have been and paving later.

"Why couldn't they have paved it in the spring when it would have been nice for us?" questioned Van Bolderen, who says dust along the road makes it impossible for residents to keep their windows open in the summer.

As Van Bolderen walked along the road explaining where the missing asphalt had been just over a month ago, another local resident drove by exclaiming the road had been "nice for the day that it lasted."

Van Bolderen says from his experience, it isn't possible to drive the speed limit of 50 kilometres an hour
