FILMING AT WATERDOWN DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL

JULIA LOVETT-SQUIRES jlovett@flamboroughreview.com

Guts, gore and everything you need for a terrifying holiday family dinner was being served up in Waterdown with the production of Eli Roth's "Thanksgiving."

The film, starring Addison Rae, Patrick Dempsey, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks and Nell Verlaque, is the full-length major motion picture based on a fake trailer that was seen in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse — a film from 2007 that was done in a double feature style.

JUST THE FACTS

• Scenes from "Thanksgiving" were filmed at Waterdown District High School, 215 Parkside Dr.

• The film crew set up shop in Waterdown on March 11, when it began prepping for interior and exterior scenes. Filming wrapped up on March 17.

• Filming is a boon to the local economy. According to the city's senior project manager for film, Kim Adrovez, film and television productions spent $72.8 million in Hamilton on goods and services last year. This includes equipment rentals, hotel stays and location fees.

• "Filming also creates highquality jobs and supports the growth of local businesses. Hamilton is one of the busiest cities in Ontario for film and television production," said Adrovez.
