PC PARTY INCUMBENT DONNA SKELLY

NAME: Donna Skelly

RIDING: FlamboroughGlanbrook

PARTY: Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario

AGE: 60

OCCUPATION: MPP for Flamborough-Glanbrook

PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Skelly was elected to Hamilton city council in 2016. She was councillor for Ward 7. She served on numerous committees, including as chairperson of the audit, finance and administration committee. She was elected MPP for FlamboroughGlanbrook in June 2018. HOW WOULD YOU GRADE THE

PROVINCE'S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND WHY? A minus, because more than 90 per cent of residents over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated, one of the highest vaccination rates in the world. Throughout the pandemic, over 3,000 hospital beds have been created. More than 58,000 new and upgraded long-term-care (LTC) beds are in the pipeline, including 1,700 LTC beds in Hamilton alone. The previous Liberal government, supported by the NDP, built about 600 LTC beds over eight years and left the system in a mess. Thousands of PSWs, doctors and nurses are being recruited. Ontario now has the capacity to produce PPE (personal protective equipment) and other vital medical supplies. Last year, 345,000 net new jobs were created, more evidence that the economy is recovering.

IF RE-ELECTED, I PLEDGE TO

bring high-speed internet to every home in the riding within the next four years, and to tackle the housing crisis by building more homes that people can afford. Predictions are that in Hamilton, the population will grow to 820,000 by 2051. That's an increase of 236,000 residents. I would work to create more housing options for homeowners and renters and accelerate development timelines to get more homes built faster. I want to make it easier for Ontarians to realize their dream of home ownership.
